ConSoul


BIO:

ConSoul is a unique and fun big band, specializing in funky arrangements of music from classic and contemporary Video Games. The goal is to make the music danceable ‐ from salsa and swing to rock, pop, disco etc. The current playlist includes many titles including Super Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Undertale, Street fighter, Sonic, Tetris, Banjo‐Tooie, The Banner Saga, Civilization series, and many other games, and we are constantly expanding the playbook to include new themes. We have been collaborating with the original composers in order to create a most entertaining and fun experience for the crowd.

Our crew includes Grammy award winning/participating musicians, and other world renowned musicians. Including Mitch Friedman (GRAMMY winner), Felipe Fournier (Latin Grammy Nominee) Danny Flam (Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, GRAMMY Winning Participant with Kanye West) and other notables.

DANNY FLAM - BAND LEADER
Grammy Winning Participant trombone player. Played with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra for extended period, and moved to New York in 2003 started recoding brass, and is featured on many thousands of albums and recordings, including works by Kanye West (his work won 3 Grammy awards), Jay Z, Eminem and others. He is also one of the leading trombone performers in New York area. Danny founded ConSoul with fellow New York musicians as fun project in 2015 and it has since taken off.

MITCH FRIEDMAN - BASS
Mitch Friedman is a Grammy Award winning bassist, musical director, and producer, living in NYC. With an intense classical background and session/touring career spanning fifteen years (and features on over a hundred recordings) and counting, Mitch has performed across four continents on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, David Geffen Hall (formerly Avery Fischer Hall) at Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden. Since moving to NYC in 2005, Mitch has performed with Dorinda Clarke, Lenny Pickett, Crystal Bowersox, Elle Varner, Soulfarm, John Forte, Homeboy Sandman, The Score, Kelley James, Nyle vs the Naysayers, The New Velvet, and has shared the stage with the likes of O.A.R., the Goo Goo Dolls, Kid Rock, Will. I. Am., S.O.J.A., Pharaoh Monch, Wale, ?uestlove, Los Lobos, and Foreigner.

Felipe Fournier - VIBES/PERCUSSION
Grammy and Latin Grammy Nominated Vibist/Percussionist & Composer Felipe Fournier was born in the Central American country of Costa Rica.
Graduated from the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory, in Jazz and Caribbean Music. Felipe was nominated for a Latin Grammy with Charlie Sepúlveda & The Turnaround; US Grammy with Nestor Torres; and Rubén Blades & Cheo Feliciano on
his latest album “Eba Say Aja”. Based in New York City since 2013, Felipe is the MD of “Supermambo! A Vibes Tribute to Tito Puente”; Luba Mason’s MIXTURA; and the musical “The Mexican Affair” among others. Also, he plays as a sideman with Miguel Zenon’s SUR, Luisito Quintero's 3rd Element, Guillermo Klein, Jarana Beat, Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra, and Tres
del Solar.

GAL GERSHOVSKY - DRUMS
Gal Gershovsky is originally from Israel - where he played with leading artists. Since moving to to New York he has been a corner stone drummer for many local bands and a leading recording drummer for many bands in the New York area. Gal is Nephew of Grammy award winning Yaron Gershovsky of the Manhattan Transfer.

REBECCA PATTERSON - BASS TROMBONE
Rebecca Patterson is currently resident of New York City and does regular sub work on the Broadway show Wicked at the historic Gershwin Theater. She graduated with a B.M. in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music in 2013 with a focus on business and performance. Rebecca's experience includes running and writing for her her own big band co-lead with low brass and vocal phenomena Ron Wilkins. She has a diverse range of performance experience on Tenor and Bass Trombones and Tuba including performances with: Arturo O'Farrill's Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Christian McBride Big Band. Chris Potter, Kansas, Marcos Valle, The Mingus BIg Band, NYC Metro Chamber Orchestra, The Ed Palermo Big Band, BIlly Vera's Jazz Orchestra, Phil Wilson, Mariachi Vargas, and San Antonio Wind Symphony. Rebecca is currently employed by the Harmony Program in NYC, and has taught private lesson for 8 years.

Ron Bertolet - Saxophone
Ron's TV recording credits include "Living Single" with Queen Latifah, Eminem and others. Ron has appeared on numerous jazz recordings with artists such as guitarist Mike Stern and has performed live with various different artists ranging from pop vocalist Bobby Caldwell to saxophonist Jeff Coffin of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Ron is also a world renowned Jewish Music soloist and performer.


NOLAN TSANG - Trumpet
Nolan Tsang is an improvisor, trumpet player and composer based in NYC. Nolan draws influence equally from contemporary classical and jazz pioneers alike, bringing cohesive spontaneity and excitement to every musical setting. In addition to his solo trumpet work, he leads the jazz-punk band Body Bag, as well as the innovative contemporary classical trumpet/cello duo LILT. In addition to his own projects, Nolan has recorded and performed extensively as a sideman in most NYC clubs.


DAN LEHNER - Trombone
Dan Lehner is a freelance trombonist living in NYC. He graduated from William Paterson University with a degree in Jazz Studies and since moving to NYC has performed with artists like Orrin Evans, Norah Jones and many others. He has toured the US and Europe with the "NYC Roots Pop" band Karikatura and will be touring through Latin America as a part of the American Music Abroad program through the US State Department.


WILL HOTALING - Saxophone
Will Hotaling has shared the stage with Grammy award winning artist and Living Color frontman Corey Glover, as well as several recording artists including Terrell Stafford, Steve Turre, Jon Faddis, Chris Vadala, Glen Drewes, Mitch Frohman, and the Mambo Legends Orchestra. Will has studied with several reputable performers and clinicians, including Christopher Creviston, Gary Smulyan (Vanguard Orchestra) and David Dejesus (Arturo O'Farrill); and has been an active performer and educator for over 10 years.


AMROM SVAY -  Saxophone
Amrom Svay is a jazz saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist in the New York area. He has studied and performed with Ralph Lalama, Eric Alexander, Kenny Washington, and Jon Faddis at venues such as The Blue Note and Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola.

Amrom Svay is a notable music educator as well. He is the Assistant Jazz Director for the Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts. His private studio of students come to learn saxophone, clarinet, flute and jazz theory. Amrom Svay is a rising artist and educator.


KEVIN Bryan - Trumpet
Since his arrival in New York, Kevin Bryan has established himself as one of the most versatile musicians on the scene today. Known for his powerful lead trumpet, plunger mute artistry, and stylistic diversity, Kevin has performed, toured, and recorded with an incredible array of artists, including Harry Connick Jr., Tito Puente, Patti LaBelle, Levon Helm, Dave Douglas, Celia Cruz, James Moody, Macy Gray, David Murray, Jazz at Lincoln Center All-Stars, Paquito D'Rivera, k.d. Lang, Patti Austin, Frankie Valli, Bebo Valdes, and Cleo Laine, among others.
Kevin is currently lead trumpet for the legendary Duke Ellington Orchestra, Bobby Sanabria's Grammy nominated big band, as well as the Mambo Legends Orchestra. In addition, he performs frequently on Broadway.
